A rough estimate recently put the number of diginet or leased line subscribers in South Africa at 16,000. With this many customers, paying exorbitant rates for extremely low bandwidth, its no wonder Telkom has not been keen to see this business eroded by competition from cheaper, but less reliable ADSL.  Beside the lack of guarantees around service, ADSL maximum bandwidth is limited to 4Mbps and can only "fake" a point-to-point connection between offices via a Virtual Private Network. Wimax offers guaranteed throughput and uptime for point-to-point connections at prices cheaper than traditional leased line costs. Besides providing the same service, at less cost than leased lines, WiMax does not suffer from the problem of copper or cable theft.  With WiMax bandwidth can range from, a dedicated  512Kbps to 105Mbps!

Wimax connections can also be used to provide high-speed Internet access by linking to our partner's data centre, with data being sold separately.  Even if there is no direct line-of-sigh (los) between the two point you wish to connect, the WiMax infrastructure allows signals to be routed through high sites to reach it destination. To guarantee service, the solution will be designed to have a maximum of only 3 hops to get to its destination.
