Vodacom 3G/ HSDPA is the most preferred broadband offering on the local South African market as revealed by that company's interim financial results for 6 months which ended in September.
According to the results, Vodacom has grown its subscriber base to the half-million mark whilst Telkom's clientelle now stands at 491 774. The reason for Vodacom's apparent success is largely driven by negative factors arising from Telkom's delay in proceesing new ADSL lines, the ever-increasing cases of cable-theft and convenience that mobile solutions offers.
Vodacom 3G/ HSDPA sales are riding on the popularity of the USB modems that offer connection versatility between laptops and desktops and also on all laptop types, unlike the other data cards that were limited to particular laptop slots. This consequently affected customers when they upgraded to a different laptop that did not have that type of slot.
The contracts on Vodacom 3G/ HSDPA that are being offered by Cyber Connect also offer the best value for money with 500mb selling for R199/ month, 750mb - R299/ month and 1.5mb - R399.
