Fibre Optic (NeoTel)

NeoTel Fibre Options

Neolink

The Neolink product is a  fibred point-to-point national connection for data and voice networks via secure and dedicated circuits with minimum latency and optional of full redundancy. This connectivity can be used for continuous high volume data transfer. The NeoLink product is available in SDH or Ethernet interfaces and is offered from 2Mbps upwards in 2Mbps increments.

Neo Metro-E

Similar to the NeoLink product above the Neo Metro-E product is however only available in metropolitan areas and uses an Ethernet interface only. Neo Metro-E is offered from 10Mbps upwards.

When to use a Fibre Optic Connection?

A fibre connection should be used for continuous, high volume data transfer as required for applications like centralised ERP (Enterprise resource planning), database and e-mail which are accessed by branches on a regular basis, as well as san replications for large backups, http for Internet and intranet access and VoIP applications carrying intra-company voice traffic.

NeoTel Fibre Service Level Agreements (SLA)

NeoTel has two SLA for its Fibe Offerings:

  • Economy - 99% availability
  • Business - 99.5% availability

Fibre Optic Connection - What is it?

Fibre Optics is a technology that uses glass (or plastic) threads (fibres) to transmit data. A fiber optic cable consists of a bundle of glass threads, each of which is capable of transmitting messages modulated onto light waves.

One of the greatest benefits to using optical light signals is the capacity and speed of such a system. Light travels much faster than an electrical system (as with a metal wire system), thereby allowing faster reception and delivery of information. Fiber optic systems have a much higher bandwidth capacity than copper or wireless. Fibre optic cable has no scrap value and therefore is less likely to be stolen.
